At this point, Southern Italy’s Giovanni Damico is basically an honorary Chicago Native. I don’t think he’s ever been to Chicago but he certainly has status on all sides of the City. This next EP will probably cement that legacy and reputation. Outside of the first generation Warehouse / Music Box / Power Plant attendees, Giovanni just seems to get it while expanding and innovating. That perfect blend of Tracky Italo Early Drum Machine Bang The Box type of Proto House Electro Soul. I lost track of how many records he’s done with Star Creature now but what a dynamite combo. The label sold test presses of this one in early 2022 and the white labels have been spotted on NTS mixes and now at festivals overseas largely supported by the big name underground Chicago and Detroit DJs that are influencing the global scene.
